Toilet Design Competition - Negishi Forest Park
Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan

Negishi Forest Park has transformed itself in many ways since its creation and is still enjoyed by people today for its generous topography and rich forests. We considered the topography of the park to be an important element in conveying the history of the park to the present day. Furthermore, focusing on visitor activities, we considered the park and toilets as an integral part of the park. In our proposal, we focused on the following three main aspects.
1. an appearance that cohabits with the landscape
By arranging the private rooms along the topography and roofing them in harmony with the landscape, the flow lines are organised without altering the topography more than necessary, and natural energy is utilised.

2. a feel that makes you want to use it
We select details and materials that are easy to keep clean and maintain, and actively incorporate materials that affirm change over time.

3. generous spaces for people to relax
Private rooms will be provided to meet the needs of park users, and rest functions, such as waiting and resting in the shade, will be enhanced to create a complementary and user-friendly space for the park.
